-Gianna Angelopoulos: We honored the two-century course of the Greek State, and at the same time, we implemented actions that will remain for the common benefit
A pioneering research program for the prevention of brain and heart diseases was presented at Astros, Kynouria, in a special event with the participation of the President of the "Greece 2021" Committee, Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki. Mrs. Angelopoulos spoke of "a unique example of cooperation and synergy." The First Pathology Clinic of the Medical School of the University of Ioannina, the Hellenic Stroke Organization, the Astros Health Center, the 6th Health District, and the municipality of North Kynouria collaborated on the implementation of the program.
"After the completion of the projects and events of the anniversary year, and as a result of sound management, a significant surplus accumulated from the proceeds of our numismatic programme, which was the main source of funding for the operation and undertakings of the Committee. According to our commitment, we make sure that this surplus returns to society through projects that will leave a legacy and aim at the common good", stressed the President of the Committee "Greece 2021".
The program initially provides for the clinical and laboratory testing of all the adult permanent residents of the area (6000-7000 people), followed by monitoring the progress of their health. It will last for a minimum of three years, and its implementation requires €300,000, € 70,000 of which concerns the necessary medical equipment already donated to the Astros Health Center.
