The meeting with the President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, the country's leading institutional and state official, was chosen by the President of the Committee "Greece 2021" Gianna Aggelopoulou-Daskalaki for the introductory presentation of the collectible medal "Precursor" of the Numismatic Program, which will be issued by the Committee on the occasion of the bicentennial of the Greek Revolution.
The meeting took place in a very warm atmosphere and focused on informing the President of the Republic about the Committee's work up to now and its plans for the forthcoming period. The President of the Committee was accompanied by the Executive General Coordinator of the Committee Marton Simitsek and the Secretary-General of the House of Parliament and Member of the Executive Board of the Committee Giorgos Mylonakis.
During the meeting, the President of the Committee presented the collectible medal to the President of the Republic, the first medal made in our country using this specific technique, which includes a colored polymer ring between the two metal parts. The medal depicts Rigas Velestinlis and Adamantios Korais lifting Greece on her feet. In the background, the phoenix is reborn from its ashes and symbolizes the rebirth of the country.
After the end of the meeting, the President of the Committee "Greece 2021", Mrs. Gianna Aggelopoulou-Daskalaki stated:
"We informed the President of the Hellenic Republic on the operations of the Committee "Greece 2021" in view of the National Anniversary of the 200 years from the Revolution. We also had the pleasure and the honor to offer the President the "Precursor." The collectible medal issued by the Committee under the sponsorship of the Bank of Greece and which is available exclusively by the National Bank.
The Precursor is the opening act of the Committee's Numismatic Program. The medal depicts the well-known painting by Theophilos, "Greece Reborn," with Korais and Rigas lifting Greece on her feet.
We also informed Mrs. President about our visits throughout Greece, the people's moving participation, the impeccable collaboration with the local governing bodies, and the projects that are being planned regarding the Anniversary.
