"Greece 2021" Committee delegation visits Skiathos

On Sunday, June 20, a delegation of the "Greece 2021" Committee headed by its President Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalakis visited Skiathos, the birthplace of notable Greek writer Alexandros Papadiamantis, to meet with institutions that proposed and implemented projects which commemorate the symbolic bicentennial of the Revolution.

The visit concluded at the Holy Monastery of Evangelistria, where the Committee delegation attended the inauguration of the exhibition "The First Flag," an event held under the auspices of the "Greece 2021" Committee. The exhibition is hosted at the Museum of the Holy Monastery of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, where the celebrated captain Ioannis Stathas and Nikotsaras, one of the most prominent leaders of Thessaly freedom fighters, in collaboration with the prior Nifona, designed, weaved, and raised in 1807 the first Greek flag, a white cross in the middle of a blue background, a reminder of the Greek sky and the sea.
