Information on projects and events, under the auspices or with the "Greece 2021" Committee's logo, occurring in the second half of July

The anniversary projects and events carried out under the auspices or with the "Greece 2021" Committee's logo and included in the National Program of Anniversary Projects and Events continue through the second fortnight of July.

Among them are various exhibitions throughout Greece, from Volos and Mykonos to Athens, infrastructure projects, cultural festivals, and the Lyceum Club of Greek Women - Volos, significant project that consists of reproducing Rigas Feraios' Charta (Map) in embroidery.

The projects and events of July 15th to 31st in detail:

• The Archipelago is on fire
The Archaeological Museum of Mykonos' seasonal exhibition on the involvement of the Cyclades in the 1821 Struggle for Freedom will last from July 31st to the end of the anniversary year. The exhibition, taking place in the ancestral home of Manto Mavrogenous, focuses on the pre-revolution Ottoman-ruled Cycladic civilization, presents the very significant post-Byzantine historical findings in Mykonos, and highlights the personalities of the Cyclades fighters who fought in the flames of war.
The exhibition is self-funded, and it is the result of a collaboration between the Ministry of Culture, local associations, and the Church that offered valuable material to outline as best as possible the Cycladic presence in the Struggle of 1821.
The exhibition bears the "Greece 2021" Committee logo.

• 1821 - 2021 Memory Orbits
The Petros and Marika Kydonieos Foundation organizes in Andros, from July 31 to October 3, an exhibition entitled "1821 - 2021 Memory Orbits". Through carefully chosen paintings, sculptures, videos, and "installations," the sequences and ways in which individual and collective memory works are explored, decisive and superior historical events are narrated, legends, experiences, oral stories, impressions, and sensations are transformed by contemporary visual artists into compositions that connect the past and the present.

Artists who participate: Takis Zerdevas, Diana Bisoyanni, Deppy Pavlidou, Vasilis Perros, Zoe Pyrini, Giasemi Rapti, Christina Sarantopoulou, Makis Faros, and Evi Theofanidou.The exhibition is under the auspices of the "Greece 2021" Committee. It will be displayed on the ground and first floors of the building of the Foundation P. & M. Kydonieos in Andros.

• The symbolic of resistance: an itinerary from Gyzis to street artists
A visual exhibition will take place from July 15 to August 15 in Tinos, presenting an illustration of how the Greek artistic creation of the last 200 years captured and endowed the resistance to the misappropriation of freedom.
From the Secret School (1886) by Nikolaos Gyzis to the Greek art of the second half of the 20th century and the contemporary depictions by street artists, the exhibition, through the different chronological narratives of the pieces, creates visual confrontations and composes stories that stir and mobilize the collective memory and consciousness.
The unique architecture of the village of Arnados in Tinos with its medieval vaulted arches and cobblestones acts as the background for the exhibition, which includes reproductions of works by: A. Akrithakis, D. Aleithinos, G. Gaitis, Thodoros, V. Kaniaris, V. Katraki, K. Xenaki, G. Simosi, Tassos A. and G. Psychopedis.
The event is organized by EuroMare with the support of Ballis Group & Estia Services and is under the auspices of the Greece 2021 Committee.

• The role of the Aetolian League in the Revolution of 1821 — The G. Karaiskakis camp in Analipsi Trichonida
On July 24th and 25th, the Association "Friends of the Museum of Mountainous Trichonida" organizes two-day events in Analipsi Trichonida, where Georgios Karaiskakis camped before he set off for Messolonghi. The events will include a Regional Conference on 1821 and the role of the Aetolian League in the Greek Revolution, and an exhibition of books and texts, objects, and photographic material on the subject of the Conference.
The event is under the auspices of the "Greece 2021" Committee.

• Construction of an open-air theater and a concert performance in the Municipality of Kalavrita
The Municipality of Kalavrita proceeded to the construction of an open-air theater next to the monument of the Heroes of the Revolution, which on July 23 will host the Athens State Orchestra in a concert celebrating the 200 years.
The project is under the auspices of the "Greece 2021" Committee.

• The Assembly at Armenoi and the "Provisional State of the Island of Crete"
The Municipality of Apokoronos, on July 17, organizes an anniversary event on the Assembly at Armenoi (12-20 May 1822) and the "Provisional State of the Island of Crete."
The event is under the auspices of the "Greece 2021" Committee.

• Tinian Marble Craft: The artists converse with the marble
In June and July, the Athens Numismatic Museum will host an exhibition of 18 Tinian marble craftsmen. The exhibition was presented in August 2020 in Tinos, in the "Salaminia" festival of the Municipality of Salamina in September 2020, and the Athens Municipality's "Serafeion" in October 2020.
Manos Stefanidis, an art historian and Athens University professor, is the exhibition's curator. The packaging, unpackaging, and repackaging of the exhibits are taken care of by participating marble craftsmen-artists.
The project is organized by the Municipality of Tinos and is under the auspices of the "Greece 2021" Committee.

• The Park of the Struggle for Freedom
The Municipality of Trifylia organizes an outdoor exhibition dedicated to the historical events - milestones of the Struggle of 1821. The Park of Panagia Vlacherna will be transformed into a "Park of the Struggle for Freedom" by placing large exhibition boards of special weather-resistant construction, depicting in photographs and texts the most important historical events, from the establishment of the Friendly Society to the signing of the Protocol of Independence of the Greek State.
The exhibition will run from July 26 to the end of the year and is under the auspices of the "Greece 2021" Committee.

• Creation of the "Charta (Map) of Greece" in embroidery
Under the auspices and with the sponsorship of the "Greece 2021" Committee, the Lyceum Club of Greek Women - Volos created an embroidered "Charta (Map) of Greece." The work was published in Vienna by Rigas Velestinlis. It is an essential document of the Modern Greek Enlightenment and a reference point in shaping the ideas that inspired the Revolution.
The Charta was embroidered in its natural size. It consists of 12 panels successfully embroidered by an equal number of women using the traditional stitches.
The Charta will be exhibited at the Archaeological Museum of Volos, also in Athens and other places in Greece. The exhibitions will be free and open to the public.
On Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at 20.30, the first presentation of the "Charta of Greece" will occur at the Athanasakio Archaeological Museum of Volos, where it will remain on display until September 30, 2021. The Member of the Assembly of the Committee, Dr. Ekaterini Polymerou – Kamilaki, will participate in the opening ceremony.

• Meeting the heroes of '21 at the Tower of Plapouta
With the company "PHAEA RESORTS" as the Committee's Action Sponsor, the Hellenic Organization of Political Scientists (EOPE-HAPSc) and the Society of Historical and Cultural Action of D. Plapoutas Museum organize on July 24 and 25, a scientific conference that presents historical events of the Revolution in which Theodoros Kolokotronis, Georgios Karaiskakis, Dimitrakis Plapoutas, Gregorios Dikaios or Papaflessas, Nikitas Stamatelopoulos or Nikitaras, Old Patras Germanos III and Laskarina Bouboulina participated. Also, the battles and their involvement in them, their personalities, and specific leadership characteristics.
The event will conclude with a round table that will aspire to analyze not only the contribution of these historical figures to the Revolution but, above all, the crucial leadership characteristics that remain relevant or nonrelevant today.
The event will take place at the towerhouse of the hero of the Revolution, Dimitrakis Plapoutas, in Gortynia Arcadia and is under the auspices of the "Greece 2021" Committee with "PHAEA RESORTS" as Action Sponsor.

• 5th HELLENIC MUSE Festival: Celebration events for the 200th anniversary of Rebirth
The 5th HELLENIC MUSE Festival, which will take place from July 25 to 27, participates in the celebration of the 200th anniversary of Rebirth with three imaginative events:
A) "The Hymnology of the Holocausts," a presentation of hymnography composed by scholars of the Nation on account of the massacre of Chios (1822), the fathers of the islands of Strofades (1537), and all the neo-martyrs of the Ottoman occupation, etc. The event will take place in a ruined monastery in Pyrgi.
B) The Workshop "Chios and France 18th-19th century: Philhellenism, History, Memory" on how the French travelers, writers, and politicians perceived Chios during the pre-revolutionary period, the Revolution of 1821, and the post-revolutionary period. The objective is to highlight the relationship between Chios and France through literary and artistic creation and the economic activities of important Chiotans. The event will take place at the Homerion Cultural Center of the Municipality of Chios.
C) A Greek-French concert to be held at the Mastic Museum. The workshop will also have musical documentation, i.e., a concert with works by Greek and French composers of the 19th and 20th centuries, demonstrating the two peoples' artistic osmosis, which bore significant results.

• The contribution of women to the Revolution
The Municipality of Trifylia, on July 24, plans events dedicated to the Greek women of the uprise and the Struggle. The events include a lecture by dr. Maritina Leontsini, Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of History & Philosophy of Science EKPA, a presentation of authentic traditional costumes and their jewels from the Collection of the Dora Stratos Theatre and a dance performance by the Members of the Dance Department of the Educational Association of Gargalianoi, wearing authentic period costumes.
The events are under the auspices of the "Greece 2021" Committee.

• "Rebirth"
The folk oratorio "Rebirth" by the composer Dimitris Maramis, performed by Costas Macedonas, Grigoris Valtinos, and the vocal ensemble "8tetto," is the central event of the Region of Central Greece to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution. It was presented on July 1st in Lamia, and it will be presented on July 22nd in Chalkida, on July 24th in Amfissa, and on September 16th in Livadia.
The event is under the auspices of the "Greece 2021" Committee.

• The unknown 1821 of our ancestors the Dredes in the mountainous Trifylia
The Community of Kefalovrysi (Ripesi), the "Ripesi 1821-2021" Committee and the Society of Expatriates of Kefalovrysi organize the composite event entitled "The unknown 1821 of our ancestors the Dredes in the mountainous Triphylia", which includes hiking routes, exhibitions of historical objects, books, documents, and artworks, with simultaneous musical and theatrical performances, as well as gastronomic events.
As part of the project, a Festive Event will take place on July 31st, including lectures and the presentation of a Book on: "The Dredes of the Mountainous Trifylia in the Struggle for Freedom." In addition, from July 31st to August 22nd, there will be an exhibition of visual arts on "In 1821... differently" at the Community Medical Center of Kefalovrysi. At the same time, there will be an Exhibition of Historical artifacts, Books, and Documents at the Community Office of Kefalovrysi.
